“Cassy?” my father asks in a serious tone, blue eyes as solid as his voice. “Are you okay?”
“No, I’m not okay. I’m obviously dead.”
My parents look at each other and I can see the questions they’re asking without speaking. What has gotten into her?
“I’m not insane,” I argue, pulling away from them. “This place stinks.” I storm off wondering why, if this is heaven, they are acting so oddly?

Is this the first time she time looped? That would be a really weird experience regardless of how many times you've done it before.
ReplyDeleteThis story is always intriguing and raises great questions to keep a person reading. Enjoyed the snippet.
ReplyDeletePowerful snippet. I'm thinking oh what parents go through!
ReplyDelete“No, I’m not okay. I’m obviously dead.” - that's the most hilarious line I've read in quite a while :-)
ReplyDeleteTweeted.
Wow. Can't wait to find out where this is going. And yes, to have my child say that out of the blue would be disconcerting to say the least! Great snippet.
ReplyDeleteIntriguing to get the zombie's POV. I'm guessing she's a zombie? And aren't her parent's dead (I read your last Wewriwa post).
ReplyDeleteWell, this certainly brings up a lot of interesting questions. Is she really dead? Is this some sort of afterlife holding area? Are her parents dead or not? Readers want to know!
ReplyDeleteWhy indeed? Great snippet!
ReplyDeleteScary for her. Ditto Alexis' questions.
ReplyDeleteWell, this is certainly a conversation that few people have ever had with their parents.
ReplyDeleteAre we in the Twilight Zone? Can't wait to find out!
ReplyDeleteI guess some of our questions will be answered...next time?
ReplyDeleteThis brings up loads of interesting questions.
ReplyDeleteEither Heaven isn't like she thought... or maybe she isn't dead, after all. I'm sure she'll figure out eventually.
ReplyDeleteOoh what an intriguing snippet! Can't wait to find out more! This raises so many questions!
ReplyDeleteNice! I love time loop stories. Edge of Tomorrow is one of my faves. I have this book--and I need to make time to read it.
ReplyDeleteYup, being dead would certainly ruin a good day... lol
